Walking trail - The trail is open to the public on the grounds of the Defiance County East campus at 1300 East Second Street. The one-mile walking trail is designed to encourage physical activity for the residents of Defiance County. The trail was developed and implemented through the cardiovascular health grant from the Ohio Department of Health. The starting point of the trail is at the northwest corner of the Defiance County East building along the sidewalk and is clearly marked with signs provided by the cardiovascular health grant.

"Step Up and Step Out - Defiance County" - a guide to local walking opportunities is available to download and print. The walking guide features ten maps of walking areas in Defiance County. The benefits of walking, how to begin a walking program and a chart to record twelve weeks of daily exercise is included in the walking guide.

HealthTalks

The Health Planning and Promotion Department offers the service of providing HealthTalks on a variety of topics to schools and community organizations at no charge. Public speaking presentations have included Glow Germ - proper hand washing technique, nutrition associated with the food guide pyramid, serving sizes, food labels and healthy food choices. Importance of physical activity, sun safety, bike safety, hygiene and dental health and tobacco prevention education.
