Nutrition
& Weight Control
Nutrition Counseling
A registered, licensed dietitian (RD,
LD) is a health professional who provides reliable and thorough
nutrition counseling. Dietitians must complete an American Dietetic
Association - approved four-year degree in nutrition and an intensive
internship in the hospital and community settings, and they must also
pass a professional registration exam to obtain RD, LD status. They
are trained to counsel individuals on any heart health related diet
matter as well as other nutrition concerns. There are fees for these
services. Some insurance policies cover nutrition counseling -
check with the dietitian or your insurance company.
Weight Control
The following programs
do not provide individual nutrition counseling but do recommend a
balanced diet along with physical activity and a slow, steady weight
loss of 1-2 pounds per week. There are fees for these services.
